How to make Outgoing calls
First you click on the phone icon shown in the image to the left.

Next enter the number by either copy/pasting or typing directly into the number window, or you can click on the numbers to enter the phone number manually.

To place a call using an existing contact number, it is best to choose the contact by clicking on the "Contacts" button at the bottom of the dialer.
